The Burnham Area Rescue Board has been chosen by our team as our main charity fundraiser for 2024.
BARB Search & Rescue – which was formed in 1992 as Burnham Area Rescue Boat – has a great team of dedicated local volunteers who operate our hovercraft and inshore rescue boats. They have saved hundreds of lives in Somerset and are on call 24 hours a day. BARB rely on your donations to keep our independent charity running.
This year we asked our 200+ team to select a charity in Somerset. After compiling a shortlist, we held a final vote, and BARB emerged as the chosen charity.
Sarah House, the resort director commented:
“This year's charity efforts will make a huge local impact for a local service that very often is deployed in the area. Over the summer we will be fundraising in a series of events with our team members, holiday guests and owners, leading up to four of our very own #teambrean colleagues embarking on an epic Chase to the Sun Challenge, where we will be cycling 200 miles in one day from the Isle of Sheppey to Weston Super Mare from sunrise to sunset. Joining me on the Race to the Sun Challenge are Kieran, my husband, Ali, Housekeeping Manager and her partner Dave from our maintenance department."
In the last 3 years, we have raised over £25,000 for 3 different charities through different challenge events as well in addition further monies for other local charities that we support such as St Margaret’s Hospice, Somerset Breast Cancer Now, and the Injured Jockey’s fund.
