4 team members at Brean Leisure Park & Holiday Resort Unity have just returned from cycling all the way from Bristol - Bordeaux for our main charity of the year PROPS.
Over 4 days they each cycled 300 miles and in doing so will have raised over £6000 once fundraising is complete. Over 70 riders took part in the challenge and fundraising from the event should reach £75,000.
The Bristol based charity PROP's mission is to support adults with learning disabilities to achieve their full potential in the community. They achieve this by providing access to practical learning, skills development and worthwhile, accessible work-based experiences. Two trainees that are supported by the charity also completed the challenge. The funds from the challenge will be used by PROPS in the opening of a cafe run by the trainees that attend PROPS to learn things like cash handling, and coming all skills to help their independence and development.
Sarah House, Director who was part of team brean who took part the commented ‘We had a fantastic four days of cycling in very hot conditions with stunning scenery, sunflower fields, vineyards and château’s finishing off with a dip in the fountain at the finish. It was a great experience knowing all of training and effort on the challenge and fundraising monies will go to such good use for the future of adults with learning difficulties. We would like to thank everyone that sponsored us and took part on our fundraising activities. Charity fundraising as as a business is important to us to help the local community. We support a number of charities across the year’
Other members of the team who also work within the family business are Kieran, Sarah’s husband, Ali, Housekeeping Manager and her partner Dave from our maintenance department.
Our fundraising page is still open and donations can be made here https://www.propsbristol.org/Fundraisers/team-brean
